The UK Government is currently undertaking a substantial capital investment exceeding £4 billion. This funding aims to establish over 40 new hospitals and healthcare centers of excellence across the country, marking a significant enhancement in the nation’s healthcare infrastructure.
Social Value Company has played a pivotal role in supporting 7 of these new hospitals. Our contribution includes developing approaches to Societal Benefits Strategies and Comprehensive Investment Appraisal (CIA) modeling. This modeling encompasses Quality-Adjusted Life Years (QALYs), non-QALYs, and Social Value assessments.
A notable achievement of our involvement is the development of the Exemplar Social Value/Societal Benefits Strategy for the Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital. This strategy aligns with the National Health Projects’ (NHP) goals of reducing health inequalities, creating local employment, providing first-class healthcare services, and enhancing clinical care.
The framework and CIA Model established for the Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital have set a benchmark for all NHP projects. These models are instrumental in calculating QALYs, non-QALYs, and social value, providing a comprehensive and impactful approach to healthcare project evaluation.
Our successful model has been replicated in other NHP projects, including Dorset CAHMS PICU, Blackpool Teaching Hospital, Princess Alexander Trust Hospital, University Hospitals Leicester Endoscopy Centre, and the East Midlands Elective Care Unit. This expansion underscores the adaptability and effectiveness of our approach in diverse healthcare settings.
